About The Old Barn Home Design
Welcome to The Old Barn. I am so glad you’re here! Simple pleasures, appreciating the small things, God’s blessings, the real things…FAMILY…this is my heart and soul…and why I designed and built this home for our own family.
I am Jessica, my husband is Cody and we have 3 crazy, sweet, wonderful kids. I love to help families realize their dreams of building a well-designed home that is as beautiful as it is functional….and I love to keep things down-to-earth, and easy-going, but know the value of hard work and a good DIY. I have a Masters in Architecture and have designed and built (as general contractor with my husband, Cody) two homes for my family. My current home, which I designed, is now available as a Construction Set of Floor Plans on this website, along with a few others that are “spin-offs” of the Century Oak Farmhouse.
We are also working on a Self-Contracting Guide for others who want to pull up their bootstraps and save some money and have more control during the home-building process! I hope to have it ready very soon and I’ll be sending an email to my subscribers as soon as it is ready!
We love playing Spades on Sundays on the screened porch, long lingering dinners, nature walks and s’mores by the lake, sipping tea on the porch swing, doing homework and making our Christmas cookies around the kitchen island. Family is the reason for pretty much everything we do.
