Building or remodeling a home means making a lot of choices. It’s easy to get decision fatigue and throw your hands up in the air with all the choices. Flooring covers about 1/6th of the inside of your home and it’s not an easy change so it’s important to make a good, well-informed decision. I ordered many samples of flooring before deciding on these. I treated each sample very badly. Soaked them in water, ketchup, mustard, dropped knives and forks on them, and scratched them with screwdrivers. I even threw them in the back my car with my kids for weeks. If that’s not a test of durability, I don’t know what is! What you see below are the winners in both look and indestructibility.

Let’s start with the biggie: The downstairs wood flooring. I LOVE this flooring. It was love at first sight but I couldn’t let my love of the look be 100 percent of the decision. We have 3 kids and a sheepadoodle and we are not easy on floors. This sample fared amazingly well with all of my tests. It didn’t stain, and most importantly, it didn’t scratch easily. In fact, we couldn’t see any scratches and the only thing that made a mark was when my son stabbed it with his pocket knife. I will say the pictures on the website make it look yellowish. Don’t be fooled, it’s not yellow. Order a sample. Actually, I ordered a sample and then they offered to send me a few more (no charge) when I was seriously considering this for our floors. This helped me see the variation in the colors across several planks.

Love your floors and thank you for sharing the link to the downstairs flooring! Did you use porcelain wood tile upstairs? And if so, do you find it to be noisy when you’re downstairs and someone is walking upstairs?

Upstairs we used a LVP. It’s not loud or echoing. It has an underlayment too which helps with noise. My daughter does gymnastics upstairs and we can definitely hear that, but otherwise it’s good. Maybe not as quiet as carpet but we have kids with allergies and asthma so carpet isn’t great for us.

You have a beautiful home. Could you please share the source for the mud room flooring? Love it.

The tile in the mud room is called Premier Capella 2×10 tile in color taupe. We got it from Home Depot.
