Happy Friday! As Steven Tyler says, “my get up and go musta got up and went.” Somehow even though this week has felt so long, my to do list has gotten longer, not shorter.

In stories today, I’m sharing my process of trial and error for decorating in my kitchen. I don’t like a lot on my counters, and I prefer most items to be functional (but not appliances.) I tried to stretch myself and put a little more out there, but I ended up editing and removing some items all together.

Since everyone (well not me (yet?)) is organizing these days, I thought I’d throw it back to the time I organized my pantry. It still looks like this...mostly. My spices are a mess at the moment (on the list) and the kids seem to hoard empty boxes in their baskets like they are irreplaceable treasures. But other than that and endless crumbs, it’s being pretty well maintained.

I have been waiting to start some organizing proje

I have been waiting to start some organizing projects until all 3 kids were back in school. Well, today’s that day and guess what...I am going to procrastinate again...with good reason (or rationalization). 1. I have other more pressing work obligations I need to finish. 2. My husband’s office/music room will be finished soon and a lot of stuff will be leaving from where it’s crammed into closets and cabinets, freeing up some space. So you see, I NEED to wait.

Looking out my window yesterday, I was reminded that the best things in life can’t be bought! I was wishing hard for a blanket of snow this year, and boy did we get it. It snowed all day long even though the temperature was slightly above freezing most of the time. Being a lifelong Texan, I get giddy over those little icy flakes. I grew up in Houston and I only remember seeing snow once while living there. Now that we live in the northern part of Texas, we get to see it more but it’s definitely not an every year occurrence, and even more rarely enough to cover and stick.

PSA: Don’t drink coffee in bed while suffering with allergies.
My allergies keeping me up all night is the reason why I need the coffee today. But it’s hard to drink with a stuffy nose, and now I have sneezed with my cup in hand and coffee has splashed everywhere.

And since I can’t leave you with all this negativity, I’ll say, it was time to clean the bedding anyway. And my allergies are starting to feel a little better. And soon my bed will look like this again today. I hope you look for the good stuff out there today!

I didn’t do a top nine post because it would have been pretty repetitive. 8 of my top 9 posts from 2020 are of the front elevation of our house. So, I’m sharing this one as a representative.
.

Focusing on the positive, 2020 brought us so many changes and chances for growth. Speaking of growth, both of my 2 boys grew taller than me in height in 2020! We put shutters on the house, planted our front flower bed, planted and killed small 10 trees, added tons of soil and mulch and replanted 5 more trees, built office shelves, refinished a few pieces of furniture, built a screened porch, and have almost completed my husband’s office/music room over our garage. We homeschooled while working from home, and found a greater appreciation for face to face time with those we care about. I know there’s a lot I’m leaving out, and and I mentioned, I’m focusing on the positives, but I think 2020 will be a year we overcame so much.
.
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Philippians 4:13.

I finally found a tape dispenser in this house so now I can wrap gifts! (Okay, my husband found it.) It wasn’t the one I had a few days ago, but it’ll do. Do tape and scissors disappear in your house? If you saw my stories over the weekend, you know my theory: That first the kids take them and don’t put them back so I have to search all over. Then, to prevent that, I put them in a secret spot that only I know about...and then I forget where I put them.
