Welcome! I am so happy you’re joining me for some hot cocoa on the front porch all decorated for Christmas!
You may be coming from Jennifer’s Porch at Cottage on Bunker Hill, isn’t her porch so inspiring? If so, welcome, have some cocoa and take a look around our porch!
Confession: I think about how I’m going to decorate for and celebrate Christmas pretty much year-round.
Do you change your decor from year to year or pretty much stick to the same way of decorating and colors?
On the exterior and front porch, we did a few things differently but the eave lights and wreaths on the windows are a classic look that I love every year!
This is our home which I designed and now I sell the floor plans for it on this website, along with a few other “spin-offs”.
For those of you who are new to my page, Hello! I’m Jessica, wife to Cody, and mom to 2 boys and a girl, who are SO lucky because everyday with me is like an episode of carpool karaoke! They get a ride and a show! (OK, so I’m not a great singer, but do have enthusiasm). I have a background in architecture and designed this home that we just built in a small Texas town. We self-contracted the build, and now I’m working on a guide to help other families do the same! Most days you can find me on Instagram @the.old.barn
If you saw my Christmas home tour post from 2021, you may remember seeing sweet Bonnie as a puppy in this same spot. She’s a little bigger and a little wiser now…a *little* wiser and every bit as sweet.
I hope you like dogs, because Bonnie will probably keep our feet warm while we sip our cocoa.
These trees a wreaths light up at night.

This lantern on top of green and red books makes me want to swing and read until the the sun goes down! Did you know you can shop for linen spine hardcover books by color?

Make your guests and family feel like they can sit and get cozy for a nice chat and maybe some hot cocoa by adding comfy pillows and warm blankets.
Also, the eye-catching books might spark a conversation or give someone a reason to sit and read for a bit.
And of course, the mugs just beg to be filled with cocoa and marshmallows accompanied by a cozy porch chat.
My husband gets all the credit for putting this garland on the back of the swing.
I think it adds a fun festive and unexpected touch!
Wreaths on windows with red bows is a beautiful classic Christmas look.
I love that they add a Christmassy touch in the daytime even when the Christmas lights are off.
The wreaths on the doors have battery operated twinkle lights.
