Come on in: Fall Home Tour

Welcome to my Fall Home Tour! Are you looking for inspiration for making your home feel cozy, warm and welcoming for Fall?

When the temperatures drop, we tend to want to cuddle up with warm blankets by the fire, and bring the changing colors we see outside into our homes.

Even if you aren’t into the color orange, (I’m not), you can still make your home look Fall-ready and all kinds of cozy for staying warm on cool nights, using warm neutral colors, thick textures, and natural elements.

Hello! I’m Jessica, wife to Cody, and mom to 2 boys and a girl, who are SO lucky because everyday with me is like an episode of carpool karaoke! They get a ride and a show! (What I lack in talent, I make up for in loudness and enthusiasm). I have a background in architecture and designed this home that we just built in a small Texas town. We self-contracted the build…and we are still finishing up a few projects. Oh! and our Floor Plans are available on this website. Most days you can find me on Instagram @the.old.barn so come say hi!

Fall Home Tour Areas:

Let’s start this Fall tour with the Front Porch

Imagine that I’m greeting you at the door with some apple cider and a pumpkin cookie and then we sit on the rocking chairs and chat and watch the leaves fall. I would love that!

My boys and husband are not the most observant, and I’ve been told by all 3 that the porch looks great.

The fact that they noticed, even though I didn’t do a million pumpkins spilling off the porch, says volumes!

First, I may have a slight obsession with baskets as planters, so when I began creating my neutral rustic Fall porch, the baskets were the first things I pulled out.

They look beautiful holding these white mums.

I already had the small trees in the white planters, and I just added some white lanterns with candles.

Also, I switched out the striped and layered rugs that would have worked for Fall, but looked a little busier than I wanted.

To get a cleaner, simpler look, I pulled this simple natural jute rug that I had in the mudroom out here and I think it may have found a permanent new home.

Don’t worry, even though I am not using much orange decor, there’s no lack of pumpkins on this porch!

Sadly, when I pulled these ceramic stacked pumpkins out of storage, the stem had broken off of one of them.

I glued it back on, adding a bit of moss “growing” in the crevices to hide the glue.

I love the way it turned out.

Here’s a super quick video showing how I did that, if you’re interested.

This plaid blanket scarf brings the cozy to this porch! It says, “Don’t be afraid of the chill in the air, I got you covered!”

You can find these wreaths HERE. I got the burlap ribbon/bow option.

These wreaths are perfect for year-round use, adding flags for Fourth of July, flowers in the Spring, etc.

I have different ones I use at Christmas, but these could easily be used for Christmas too.

Come on in! Fall Home Tour in our Entryway

Again, I started with a basket when decorating the Foyer for Fall.

I love trays and baskets in and around the house to corral small decor items to make them have more impact, cohesiveness, and intention.

I have a whole blog post about trays HERE.

A Fall-scented candle in a wood bowl fills the air with the aroma of apple pie and cinnamon. HERE is a link to this wood bowl candle. And you can use code: OLDBARN20 to save 20%!

And here’s a super quick video showing how easy it is to make this pumpkin topiary.

Our Fall Living Room

For our Living Room, I cut some hydrangeas from the garden that were changing to the warm peachy tones, mixed with a little green and placed them in a glass inside a basket.

Thick, rich textures in the pillows and throw blankets add coziness and warmth.

Gold touches like the velvet pillow covers, and candlesticks add elegance to this otherwise rustic decor.

Living Room Rug is HERE.

Our TV is made to look like a painting using THIS TV and THIS WARM SILVER FRAME.

I love not having to look at an ugly black rectangle on the wall!

You can read all about our “hidden in plain sight” TV HERE.

HERE is a link to the Fall Eucalyptus stems I used on the mantel.

Dining Room Fall Home Tour

In the Dining Room, I gathered some tiny terracotta pots to use as candle holders.

Each pot is filled with moss to hold the taper in place.

The natural and rustic elements like the moss, pine cones and terracotta are balanced by the gold candlesticks, and silver pedestal.
