Christmas Home Tour 2023 | Simple Festive Decor Ideas & Links

November 25, 2023

Merry Christmas! Welcome to the Tour! You are in the right place if you’re looking for Christmas Ideas for your home, want to see our home tour video, or if you’re looking for links to items I used to decorate this year!

This year, the concept for the Christmas tree and Living Room decor was inspired by a winter woodland. I chose decor items that seemed rustic, woodsy, and natural. And for a fun surprise, I imagined there might be a frozen pond in this snowy forest to ice skate on, so I added some ice skates too!

Other elements seen in the decor include pinecones, berries, cardinals, snow-topped branches, and birch bark ribbon.

For the snow-topped branches, I used white dusters…these have the look of clumps of fluffy, powdery snow on the Christmas tree. I linked the ones I used below.

In the video, you’ll see how I incorporated a fun way to remember the reason for the season, Jesus.

I also share a simple tip for making everyday items magically look more Christmassy.

Names of Jesus Stars

I had lots of requests for more info about the names of Jesus stars hanging from our mantel.

I used this air dry clay to make the stars. I rolled the clay to about 1/8″ thick and used a star shaped cookie cutter. I had poked holes because I used them in the past as ornaments. But for the Jesus stars, you don’t need holes uless you want them. I just hot glued one star to each end of piece of ribbon cut to about 18-24″. Then, I hung them from the middle from our garland.

I always loved hearing our pastor recite this at Christmas and the reminder that even before Jesus walked on Earth, He was already here/with God. He was represented and foreshadowed in many ways throughout the Old Testament and many of these names are references to those Old Testament stories. Some are from the New Testament too. If you’d like a full list, I found this LIST.

  • Immanuel – Matthew 1:23.
  • Lamb of God – John 1:29.
  • Alpha and Omega – Revelation 22:13.
  • King of the Jews – Matthew 27:37.
  • Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace – Isaiah 9:6.
  • The Bread of Life – John 6:35.
