Merry Christmas! I’m so glad you’re here for this Christmas home tour!
I love sharing my home with you all year long, but especially at Christmastime!
As the only child of a single mom, we had a some Christmases that felt a little small and quiet.
And if I’m being vulnerable, some felt a bit sad…like something was missing.
During those times, I always thought ahead to the someday when I would have my own family.
I would picture what I hoped Christmas would be like and now I try to make it happen.
For those of you who are new to my page, Hello! I’m Jessica, wife to Cody, and mom to 2 boys and a girl, who are SO lucky because everyday with me is like an episode of carpool karaoke! They get a ride and a show! (OK, so I’m not a great singer, but do have enthusiasm). I have a background in architecture and designed this home that we just built in a small Texas town. We self-contracted the build, and now I’m working on a guide to help other families do the same! Most days you can find me on Instagram @the.old.barn
Maybe that’s why this time of year is so important to me. It’s why I try to make sure my family has fun, rich, beautiful memories at Christmas time.
Throughout this tour, I talk a bit about decor and try to give ideas and tips you can use in your own home, but I also talk about family time and making memories.
That’s the good stuff.
While we want our home to be beautiful at Christmastime, we also want it to be the setting for cherished time spent with those we love.
I like to decorate early, so I can spend the rest of the season doing all the fun things, like baking, puzzles, sipping cocoa while watching Christmas movies…

Christmas is all about family, so I’ve tried to include decor that invites connection and memory making! In this video, you’ll get a up close view inside and out of the Century Oak Farmhouse which has been decked out for the holidays.
In the end you’ll see the home all lit up at night and walk away with lots of ideas for how to decorate your own home like a pro!
This Christmas table setting was created from items I already had.
The green and white plates were a happy thrift store find that I was so excited about because they look just like the ones my mom had when I was little.
Items that have memories attached are always special!
I love how they work great for this Christmas setting, but could really also work year-round like for a garden party in the spring, St. Patrick’s Day, any day!
