While I excitedly wait for the diggers, concrete pourers, and masons to finish our lake side area, I decided to make a design board to help me make some choices for the fire pit decor!
I’m sharing the progress and process for this project on Instagram if you’d like to follow along.
When I found these light blue striped outdoor pillow covers with navy tassels, it was love at first sight!
These pillow covers became my jumping off point for the design.
I love cabana stripes and blue!
Using a design board helps you see the whole picture and make sure your selections will all look nice together.
Umbrella | Turkish Towels | Faux Outdoor Boxwoods | Smokeless Fire Pit
Rocking Chairs | Cabana Stripe Pillow | Thin Stripe Pillow
When trying to decide on chairs, my first thought was Adirondack chairs.
Unfortunately, they tend to be too low for some family members and my husband said they are difficult to play guitar in.
I am hoping to spend a lot more time gathered around the fire listening to my husband and son playing guitar when this project is complete!
So I decided to go with rocking chairs instead.
These rocking chairs are made of HDPE which is a composite material that will hold up to the constant outdoor exposure they will have.
Which type of chair would you choose? Adirondack or Rocking Chairs?
Here’s a drawing I made of the plan for the lake side area.
We live on a canal that feeds into the main body 2 houses down.
The plan is to have a boat dock, covered dining area, fire pit area, and a walkway all along the shoreline for fishing and skipping stones.
I am so excited to see this space come together and be a place our family and friends can spend lots of time together!
